Nordic-inspired decoration has been a massive success for many years because it allows you to create a cozy, comfortable and warm atmosphere at home. The Danes have even created a term to describe the specific atmosphere of a Nordic interior: "Hygge", which can be translated as "well-being" or "comfort".

Indeed, we note that Scandinavian interiors really have this particularity of putting us at ease, as in a cocoon, hence the notion of "cocooning" so often associated with this decorative trend.

Our tips for creating your Scandinavian decoration

The Scandinavian style is characterized above all by the omnipresence of natural materials and the importance of light to create an atmosphere that is soft, serene and elegant.

1. The choice of colors

The choice of dominant colors is of paramount importance for a successful Scandinavian style decoration: it is impossible to create a soothing atmosphere with garish or dark tones! You will need brightness and softness. Here are some colors that work perfectly with the Scandinavian style:

  • White: this is the dominant color of all Scandinavian interiors! White reflects light and opens up perspectives: you can use it and even abuse it. The other colors listed below will be used in small touches that will brighten up the whole.
  • Natural colors: light oak, pebble gray, linen, water green, mustard...
  • The pastels: celadon blue, powder pink, light yellow...

By leafing through the trend books, you will find that the patterns that come up all the time in Scandinavian decoration are geometric shapes : circles, diamonds and other rectangles are everywhere! Do not hesitate to draw on this infinite source of inspiration: it is very effective to succeed in bringing this famous Nordic touch.

Do you find that it lacks personality? So why not look for inspiration in "ethnic chic" or " bohemian" trends?
