Rain Sticks
Discover our traditional bamboo rain sticks!
This instrument, widely used in tribal traditions around the world (particularly in Peru and Indonesia), is used like an hourglass: simply turn it over to activate it. It then produces a sound that reproduces the sound of rain. In fact, the bamboo rod that makes up the rain stick contains a multitude of solid grains (which can be dry rice, seeds or small pieces of lava stone) whose fall is slowed by a helical structure made by the craftsman inside the stick.
By using several rain sticks of different lengths simultaneously, the sound of a downpour can be reproduced with astonishing realism.
In Papua, the rainstick is called a "talking stick", as it is used to time the speaking time of each person at a meeting. Among Amerindian peoples, Shamans use them to invoke rain.
An ethnic object steeped in history, the rain stick will add a touch of cosmopolitan charm to your decor.
