What does Nag Champa mean?
Contrary to what many think, Nag Champa is not a brand, but the name of an Indian flower of the magnolia family also called Champaka.
Nag Champa means "the flower of snakes" because its smell has the reputation of bewitching reptiles.
This flower gave its name to a traditional Indian recipe of masalas (the preparation used to make certain incense): its dried petals are mixed with dozens of other natural ingredients such as sandalwood powder, vegetable resins, spices, honey ... We thus obtain a very fragrant paste that is rolled around thin bamboo stems to obtain incense sticks ... The famous Nag Champa!
