Wooden Tiki mask with Frangipani Flower pattern. Hand-carved and hand-painted artisanal creation.
Dimensions: H30 x 12 x 5cm approximately. A fastener is present on the back to easily hang the mask.
Made with respect for man (fair trade) and nature (wood from controlled sectors).
Tahiti atmosphere at home with this authentic wooden tiki mask. The frangipani flower is typical of Polynesia where it symbolizes love.
Legends tell that the Tiki would be the creator of man and that Polynesian sorcerers attributed powers to him. The head of the tiki symbolizes the power it houses. His eyes express knowledge and supernatural power. As for her stretched mouth, sometimes she pulls out her tongue or shows her teeth, in order to mark the challenge and provoke the opponent.
The Polynesians worshipped and feared him. The tiki represents their ancient gods and distant mythical ancestors. He is a half-man, half-god being. It confers power, strength and protection against dangers, and has the value of a talisman: a tiki placed outside a house protects its inhabitants.
If you wish, you can use this mask in outdoor decoration. But it will first have to be protected with a lacquer (satin and colorless to maintain the same appearance). This technique will be effective for all our wooden items.
Il est magnifique, c'est dommage qu'il ait une fissure qui a été recollé sur le bas car ça gâche un peu mais bon c'est du bois donc cela peut arriver
