A large Tiki totem to decorate the garden, the pool, or also the interior of the house!

Dimensions: height 97 to 100cm x diameter 20 to 23cm approximately. Weight: 20 to 25Kg approximately. Material: solid coconut wood from sustainable sectors. Artisanal creation: the natural imperfections of the wood are normal characteristics (cracks, irregularities ...), each statue is unique and can therefore present differences from the model photographed. For outdoor use : we recommend the application of a lacquer on the statue (product available in all DIY stores).

Like those of tikis Bars!

This large Tiki totem pole 1m high is an artisanal creation entirely carved by hand in a coconut tree trunk.

At first glance, we understand that we are facing an unusual object! If you have ever been able to go to an authentic Tiki Bar in Hawaii or elsewhere, you will find that this totem has nothing to envy to those who decorate these establishments.

You can expose it indoors or outdoors:

  • Indoors: no maintenance instructions here is a regular dusting. You can varnish the totem if you want to darken its color, or give it a brighter appearance.
  • Outdoors: the Tiki will skate over time. It will crack in places and take a very trendy "driftwood" shade. If you prefer the statue to retain its original appearance, you can prevent this aging phenomenon by applying an anti-UV lacquer to the wood, and renewing it regularly (every 2 years or so).

Some tips to preserve your wooden garden statue

When you expose a wooden statue outdoors, there is a risk of rotting the wood, unless it is rot-proof wood such as teak or bamboo for example.

Once exposed to the outside, the wooden statue will work, evolve, and its appearance will gradually change. Under the effect of rain and sunlight, its color will gray and patina. Some cracks may appear. This is normal and does not compromise the integrity of the statue.

The most important instruction to respect absolutely is to make sure to prevent the upwelling of water by capillarity to the interior of the statue. For this the best solution is to apply a water-repellent product under the statue. This product blocks water and prevents it from seeping into the wood.

If you do this, your statue can be exposed for a long time outdoors without deteriorating.

Let the statue age or preserve its original appearance?

Once your wooden statue is protected from upwelling, we advise you to determine if you want to let it age naturally or if you prefer to preserve its original appearance.

From our point of view, aging contributes to making the statue more beautiful. We are used to seeing ancient traditional wooden statues on our business trips and for us, the prettiest are those that have been weathered by time.  The advantage, in this case, is that there is less maintenance to be carried out, except to renew from time to time the water-repellent product that protects the base of the statue.

If your wish is to preserve the original appearance of your wooden statue exposed to the outside, you will have to give it a specific maintenance. We advise you to completely cover the statue with a high protection lacquer, and to repeat this operation every year, or every 2 years depending on the climatic conditions of your region.

This product available in all DIY stores protects the wood from the combined effects of rain and sun. It comes in different finishes: matte, satin, or glossy. Always prefer a colorless lacquer for a garden statue.

Warning: once this product is applied, it is very difficult or impossible to reverse! Be sure of your decision.

One last piece of advice: don't underestimate the wind. Place your statue in a sheltered place (near a wall for example), or provide fasteners. If the wind makes it fall, it could be damaged!
