A large stone rolled in Amethyst Top Quality!

Rolled stone in natural amethyst sold individually. Quality "A", origin Brazil. Weight between 25 and 35g. Dimensions of the stone: 3cm x 2.5cm x 2.5cm on average (variable). Each stone is unique and different: the 3rd photo shows a sample of the stones currently in stock.

There are different varieties of amethysts that (almost) always have the color purple in common. We offer here a large stone rolled in amethyst from a Brazilian deposit recognized for the quality of its production. The stone is an intense purple, totally opaque.

As opposed to light amethysts that mainly associate with the 7th chakra (coronal), this darker variety is preferred for simultaneous work of the 6th chakra (third eye) and the 7th chakra. We will therefore feel both the soothing and anti-stress action common to all amethysts, but also better predispositions to creativity or the practice of meditation.

Beliefs and Legends surrounding Amethyst

Since the dawn of time, this pretty purple stone has never stopped talking about it! Let's look at some famous anecdotes and legends about amethyst.

The creation of the Amethyst according to Greek mythology

Dyonisos was angry with the humans and set out to take revenge on the next mortal who crossed his path.

Bad luck pointed to the young and beautiful Amethyst, who was the target of 2 hungry beasts thrown by Dyonisos to satisfy his thirst for revenge.

But miraculously, Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, appeared and changed the beautiful Amethyst into a Crystal statue so that the tigers could not devour her. Dyonisos then realized the incredible beauty of the statufied damsel and felt guilty. He shed a tear of wine that gave a pretty purple color to the quartz statue...

Etymology of the word Améthyste

The word Amethyst comes from the Greek Amethustos which means "without drunkenness", because in antiquity amethyst cups were often used to drink water, which then took the color of wine, but of course not drunkenness...

Curious coincidence, nowadays amethyst is the stone used by lithotherapy practitioners to help people who are struggling with an addiction, whatever it is.

Leonardo da Vinci and the Amethyst

The story goes that Leonardo da Vinci loved amethyst and was very sensitive to his energy: it increased his creativity and helped him work more efficiently. In his writings, we find this quote "Amethyst has the power to dispel evil thoughts and sharpen intelligence".

"The Bishop's Stone"

We just mentioned it: amethyst is known to help focus on its mission and dispel evil thoughts. It is for this reason that it is appreciated by people who have taken vows of chastity, especially in the Catholic Church. This earned him the nicknames "Bishop's Stone" or "Stone of Celibacy". Amethyst is also very frequently used to adorn episcopal rings.

Other beliefs and anecdotes about Amethyst

Together with rock crystal and rose quartz, amethyst forms the "Golden Triangle" of lithotherapy. This expression designates not only the 3 fine stones most used by practitioners of alternative medicine, but especially the perfect complementarity of these energies to balance and harmonize the energies of a person or a place. Most of the great authors of lithotherapy advise anyone wishing to learn about the energy of stones to start with the golden triangle because it emits a powerful radiation that even beginners can feel.

For Buddhists, amethyst is a stone related to spirituality, because of its action on the 7th chakra. It would promote meditation, and therefore the connection with the world of the divine. This article from our blog explains how to use the energies of lithotherapy stones to harmonize our 7 main chakras.

For astrology enthusiasts, it is connected to the planet Neptune. It is therefore the birthstone of the month of February, and the astrological sign of Pisces. It would also be very suitable for the signs of Virgo and Sagittarius.

Finally, the amethyst wedding is celebrated on the 48th wedding anniversary. Essential amethyst gift if you celebrate this birthday this year!
