Huge handcrafted wood carving depicting the Liberator Yogi

Dimensions: height 40 x width 38 x depth 38cm approximately. Material: suar wood from forests planted by an environmental protection organization. Tinted wax finish. Weight 15 to 20kg approximately. Handcrafted wood carving: some differences in appearance and colors are possible compared to the model photographed.

Carved from a single piece of solid wood

This imposing wooden statue has been carved entirely by hand from a single large piece of suar wood. It weighs about fifteen kilos and required several hours of meticulous work. We import it from Asia where it was carved by a very talented craftsman with whom we have been working since 2003.

Traditional beliefs around the Liberating Yogi

The Liberating Yogi is this figure depicted in a cowering posture, similar to that of a fetus, with the knees folded against the chest and the head held in the hands. Depending on the culture and region, he may have other names such as the Weeping Yogi, the Liberating Buddha or the Weeping Buddha.

This character is an evocation of detachment from the material world and a representation of personal commitment to spiritual searching. It also represents the idea of returning to a primordial and pure state, such as that of a fetus, before the birth and conditioning of human life.

In the yogic tradition, the posture of the Liberating Yogi allows one to achieve liberation through meditation, in the image of the Buddha's enlightenment.

Tibetan beliefs tell us that the statue of the Liberating Yogi has the power to free us from sadness and worries. It would be enough to touch his head and convey our thoughts to him and he would free us from everything that hinders us.

In India, it is said that offering a statue of the Liberating Yogi brings healing to the one who receives it.

A gift that helps ease sorrows

This Liberating Yogi is the ideal gift for a person who needs to free themselves from the stress, sadness and anxieties of everyday life. Indeed, the Yogi takes upon himself the suffering and misfortunes of all the people around him. It brings liberation and healing to the one who receives it.
