Statuette of solid bronze representing Shiva, god hindu of destruction, a member of the Trimūrti with Brahmā and Vishnu.

Shiva is sometimes considered as the god of yoga and is represented as a yogi who has the knowledge of a universal, supreme and absolute, even in a state of " beyond knowledge ". With great power, he lives like a sage on mount Kailash.

Dimensions : height 11 x 10 x 5cm approximately. Weight = 320g approx. Material : solid bronze.

Shiva is shown seated cross-legged on a tiger skin, representing the domination of nature. It also has many other attributes, all of which have a symbolism of its own :

  • The 3rd frontal eye represents the wisdom;
  • The moon, you can see the past, the present and the Future;
  • The pitchfork / trident is the symbol of victory, the punisseur three functions : creator, preserver, and destroyer;
  • The lace binding on the guilty;and
  • The necklace of heads-of-dead shows that Shiva remains alone after the destruction of the universe.

Shiva is a complex character, and contradictory. It represents the destruction but it is aimed at the creation of a new world.

He has his eyes half-closed as it opens during the creation of the world and the firm to end the universe and begin a new cycle.
