Magnificent statue representing the Hindu elephant-headed god: Ganesh. He is the protector of the home, the one who is invoked before any enterprise, to ask him to remove obstacles, revered by millions of Hindus in India and elsewhere in the world.

Dimensions: L 15 x H 17 x D 8cm approx.

Wood carving from Indonesian craftsmanship, entirely handmade by a confirmed artist. Several hours of work were required to make this rare piece.

Material: solid Suar wood. The suar is a noble wood of Asia. It is particularly appreciated by sculptors for its beauty and texture that allows to chise very fine details, as evidenced by this statue.

A major god of the Hindu religion, Ganesh is the son of Shiva. Legend has it that one day, as he returned from a long and tiring battle, Shiva did not recognize Ganesh, his own son, on his way home. In a gesture of anger, Shiva cut off her son's head with a single stroke of the sword. But, seeing his wife Parvati crying, Shiva quickly realized that he had made a huge mistake! So he sent his army to look for a spare head for his son and told them "Take the head of the first being you will meet on your way"...
