A handcrafted creation imported from Asia

This brass Buddha statue is a handcrafted creation that we imported directly from the workshop of an Indonesian art ironworker. Available in a limited edition, it is a unique object, for a truly personal decoration...

This very beautiful statue is quite comparable to those that can be found in Buddhist temples in Asia. It will bring a lot of authenticity and cachet to your Zen decoration.

Buddha is depicted here in the "Abhaya Mûdra" posture, which is the gesture of protection and absence of fear.

Buddha and Enlightenment

A famous episode in the Buddha's life tells of the moment when he was confronted by Mara, the personification of evil and illusion, just before attaining enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

According to Buddhist tradition, while the Buddha was meditating deeply under the Bodhi tree, Mara tried to distract him by sending him visions of desires and fears. Mara hoped to prevent the Buddha from attaining enlightenment and sharing his wisdom with the world.

However, the Buddha remained calm and serene, paying no attention to Mara's temptations. The evil spirit even tried to convince him that no one would recognize his awakening and that he would have to abandon his quest.

In response, the Buddha touched the earth with his right hand (Bhumisparsha Mudra), calling on the earth to bear witness to all his past incarnations during which he had worked for the good of others. The earth then began to shake in recognition of the legitimacy of his quest.

By this demonstration, Mara was defeated and the Buddha attained enlightenment. The Buddha then made the Abhaya Mudra gesture to show his determination and lack of fear.

This story illustrates the Buddha's resilience and determination in the face of the forces of illusion and doubt, as well as his ability to find truth and inner peace despite obstacles.

And now, still through our handcrafted creations, we invite you to learn more about another myth of Asian culture: the famous "3 monkeys of wisdom".
