    The infinite wisdom of the Buddhist monk, embodied by a statue

    Also called "Bonzes" (from the Japanese "Boza"), "Bhikshu", "Getsul" or "Gelong" in Tibetan, Buddhist monks live according to the precepts of the "patimokkha", a set of 300 rules that covers several aspects of their lives, especially property. A Buddhist monk cannot possess anything other than what is essential to him, and therefore lives mainly on the gifts of the lay community.

    • Perhaps the most famous Buddhist monks are those of the Shaolin Temple (Henan Province, China), as many martial arts films have been inspired by them. Shaolin monks are renowned for their Kung Fu practice!
    • Our suar wood sculptures require very little maintenance: just dust them from time to time with a cloth. To restore their shine, clean them using a cloth soaked in a little turpentine.
    • This 30cm high statue requires about 1 to 2 days of work by an experienced sculptor. Buying one of these works means supporting this know-how, and helping craftsmen to live with dignity from their work.
