Statuettes "The 3 Buddhas of Wisdom" in resin glossy black lacquered finish. Representation also called "the secret of happiness".

Here is the famous laughing Buddha in a decorative trilogy inspired by the "3 Monkeys of Wisdom". There is the Buddha who "says nothing wrong", the one who "hears nothing wrong", and finally the one who "sees nothing wrong". According to a Chinese belief, all that would happen is good to those who respect this maxim!
These 3 beautiful resin statuettes were handcrafted in a small workshop that we found in Asia. The lacquered finish brings them shine and modernity.

The character depicted here is called Budai (in China), or Hoteï (in Japan). He is often nicknamed "Chinese Buddha" or "Laughing Buddha". In the Asian tradition, it is considered a good luck charm. It embodies the ideals of a good life: health, happiness, prosperity, and longevity.
Budai really existed (he would have died in 916)! He is revered in Asia because he was a joyful and generous person. Legend has it that he put in his bag the broken toys that the children entrusted to him, then he brought them back repaired.
