Statuettes "The 3 Laughing Buddhas of Wisdom", representation also called "the secret of happiness"

The Laughing Buddha imitates the monkeys of wisdom!
These three delightful statuettes are inspired by the "3 monkeys of wisdom", a symbol of Chinese origin made up of 3 primates each covering a different part of their face (eyes, ears and mouth), these statuettes form a kind of pictorial maxim: "I see nothing, I hear nothing, and I say nothing".
According to the belief, to those who follow this maxim, nothing but good will happen. This is why this depiction is called "the secret of happiness" or sometimes "the secret of eternal love".
But it is not the monkeys that are represented here but the famous Laughing Buddha, symbol of prosperity and benevolence.

The character depicted here is called Budai (in China), or Hotei (in Japan). He is often referred to as "Chinese Buddha" or "Laughing Buddha". In Asian tradition, it is considered a good luck charm, and embodies the ideals of a good life: health, happiness, prosperity, and longevity.
