Trilogy of Buddhist monk statuettes in a performance called "The Secret of Happiness"
Dimensions: height 8 x 6 x 4cm approx. (each statuette). Weight approx. 700g (for the set). Material: brass. Handcrafted creation imported in compliance with fair trade rules: each statuette is unique and may have differences in appearance compared to the model photographed.
A superb trilogy unearthed from a talented ironworker
These three brass monks are an artisanal creation of an Indonesian ironworker with whom we have been working since 2003. Made using the traditional method, they have the charm of handmade objects and play with fashion effects.
The 3 little monks imitate the famous "3 monkeys of wisdom", a symbol of Chinese origin made up of 3 primates each covering a different part of the face (eyes, ears and mouth), these statuettes form a kind of pictorial maxim: "I see nothing, I hear nothing, and I say nothing".
To those who follow this maxim, nothing but good will happen. This is why this depiction is called "the secret of happiness" or sometimes "the secret of eternal love".
