Buddha Teaching Spiritual Awakening to His Disciples

Buddha is depicted here seated in "Vitarka Mudra": the right hand is raised at chest level and the thumb forms a circle with the index finger, the other fingers being raised. This is the posture that Buddha adopted when he taught his disciples.

This posture therefore represents the sharing of knowledge and spiritual truths with others, as well as the expression of open-mindedness and compassion towards all beings.

The wood used is suar, a noble wood from Southeast Asia. It is offered here in a natural finish, simply protected by a layer of clear wax. This finish reveals the natural look of the wood, and in particular its contrasting colours ranging from light beige to brown.
