Buddha in Atmanjali Mudra Posture
This beautiful 30cm high statue represents the Buddha in meditation. It is a true masterpiece of wood carving, entirely hand-carved by one of our partner craftsmen.
Buddhist culture includes various mudra (codified position of the hands and posture of Buddha). Each Mudra has a very specific meaning and symbolizes the union between the body, the mind and the voice of Buddha.
Buddha is depicted here in a ritual prayer position, called Atmanjali Mudra, characterized by clasped hands outstretched upwards. It is also a gesture of greeting and respect in the practice of yoga, where it is called "Namaste".
