Aphrodite, Adonis, and the Rhodonite

Rhodonite gets its name from the Greek word "rhodon," which means "rose." This stone was considered sacred by the ancient Greeks, who believed that it had the power to heal emotional wounds, and promote love and compassion.

Legend has it that the goddess of love, Aphrodite, once gave a rhodonite to her lover, Adonis, to protect him from the dangers of hunting. Adonis carried the stone with him at all times, and it brought him good luck and protection.

One day, however, Adonis was killed by a wild boar during a hunt, and Aphrodite was so upset that she shed tears of blood on the stone. Since then, rhodonite has been associated with love and emotional healing, and it is said to help soothe heartache and heal wounds in the heart.
