Quality craftsmanship and a beautiful spiritual message

Succumb to the charm of craftsmanship and adopt these elegant statuettes representing the famous three monkeys of wisdom, an emblematic trilogy, which will seduce lovers of art and oriental wisdom. These statuettes, each 15cm high, are entirely handcrafted, and testify to the talent of our wood sculptor, with whom we have been working since 2003.

The three monkeys of wisdom, a pictorial symbol of Buddhist philosophy, are depicted here in their traditional posture: one covers his eyes so as not to see evil, another covers his ears so as not to hear evil, and the third covers his mouth so as not to say evil.

Each of the 3 statuettes is carefully carved in a single piece of suar wood, a noble and durable wood that allows the creation of sculptures of great finesse. The details are finely crafted, from the facial features to the primates' coat, including the hands and feet, for a rendering full of style and character.

Much more than just a decorative object. This trilogy is a unique work of art that invites reflection and meditation on the values of respect, tolerance and wisdom.

Choose authenticity and quality craftsmanship, and contribute to the preservation of rare know-how, while adding a beautiful object charged with spirituality and symbolism to your living space.

The Legend of the 3 Wisdom Monkeys

There are many versions of the story of the three wisdom monkeys in Asia. But the oldest is probably a Japanese fable from the seventeenth century. It features three monkeys, who embody the principles of wisdom and virtue in Buddhist philosophy.

The first monkey, named Mizaru, covers his eyes so as not to see evil. It represents prudence and vigilance, and invites us not to be tempted by the temptations and illusions of the world.

The second monkey, named Kikazaru, plugs his ears so as not to hear evil. It represents serenity and inner peace, and encourages us not to be swayed by malicious rumors and criticism.

The third monkey, named Iwazaru, plugs his mouth, to say the least. It represents kindness and compassion, and reminds us of the importance of speaking with gentleness and respect, and not hurting others with our words.

These three monkeys are often depicted together, in a symbolic posture that illustrates their commitment to living in harmony with the principles of wisdom and virtue. They have become a universal symbol of Buddhist philosophy, and their image is often used to decorate temples and sacred places.

The legend of the three monkeys of wisdom teaches us that true wisdom consists in living in harmony with oneself and with others, cultivating prudence, serenity and benevolence. It invites us to reflect on our actions, words, and thoughts, and to embark on the path of virtue and wisdom.

Summary
Les Singes de la Sagesse forment la maxime picturale : "Ne rien voir, ne rien entendre, et ne rien dire de mal". À qui suivrait leur conseil, il n'arriverait que du bien. On adore la noblesse de cette version artisanale en bois sculpté.
