Abaca is a variety of banana native to the Philippines, widespread throughout Southeast Asia. It is cultivated mainly for its leaves which allow the braiding of the same name.
We love its natural look, its pretty amber color, and the exotic atmosphere it creates in our rooms.
Abaca is mainly used by basket weavers, but still relatively little by manufacturers, because it is more difficult to work than other plant weaves, such as rattan. This allows it to keep a unique and authentic style, and to avoid the effect of "déjà vu".
