Set of 6 Maneki Neko lucky cats.
According to legend, a poor old woman living in Imado near Tokyo was forced to sell her cat to get a few coins. Her cat immediately appeared to her in a dream, and she made a statuette of it at the cat's request. The statuette was a great success, selling in large numbers, and the old lady became very wealthy. The legend of the Maneki Neko cat was born.
Although originally from Japan, the Maneki Neko is widespread in China. It's considered a powerful good-luck charm, attracting luck and wealth.
Each little cat has a different symbol, including the Feng Shui Chinese fortune coin and the gold ingot (symbols of fortune and prosperity), as well as Chinese calligraphy.
