These small wooden boxes containing an insect similar to a beetle (with the legs that move !) come from India where they have a special meaning :

It is a gift that we offer to the children and adults to help them to console themselves with the distress or gives them grief. By giving her this small box, it offers to the child of the open, to tell her sorrows to the little beast, and then close it and put it under his pillow. During the night, the little beast is going to eat the grief and make it disappear.
