Evoking an ancestral figure, or a ritual idol, this tribal statuette made of petrified wood from Timor fascinates with its aura and symbolic force. Handcrafted using ancient artisanal techniques, it embodies the raw and deeply spiritual aesthetic of the Primitive Arts of this Indonesian island.
The character, stylized to the extreme, is represented in the form of a cylindrical body decorated with engraved geometric patterns, among which the spiral triangle stands out, a symbol of cyclicity, fertility and regeneration. This motif evokes vital energy and the link between generations, reinforcing the initiatory character of this work.
The long neck supports a minimalistically sculpted face: two large round eyes, a long straight nose, a mouth reduced to a simple horizontal incision, and an impassive expression that seems to defy time. This is certainly the message that this statuette delivers to us: the important thing is to live, to move forward by looking straight ahead... This is the life of the tribal peoples of Timor.
The wood, petrified by traditional processes (burning, burial), has an almost fossilized appearance that further reinforces the unique style and authenticity of this collector's item. Mounted on a discreet black metal base, it exudes a silent and serene presence. It will easily fit into a contemporary setting, or even a Loft-inspired or minimalist decoration .
A rare object, steeped in history and spirituality, to be contemplated rather than explained.
Why adopt this magnificent tribal idol?
- It is an atypical object that resembles nothing found in classic decoration circuits. Ideal for asserting the uniqueness of your space.
- A rare piece, steeped in history, symbolism, and the ancestral know-how of Timorese craftsmen. Far from standardised mass-produced objects, it is something precious that can be kept and then passed on.
- You value a traditional know-how that is threatened, while bringing a timeless, sculptural and profoundly human touch to your interior.
- Its minimalist yet evocative design, its old, almost fossilized wood, and the silent power it exudes make it a work of art in its own right. It does not follow trends: it transcends them. Once you're home, she'll never leave your collection.
A few ideas for scenarios...
- On a raw wood or black metal entrance console, combined with an antique mirror or a minimalist light fixture, to create a subtle contrast between antique and contemporary.
- In the heart of a bookcase or a niche cabinet, alongside art or travel books, to underline its cultural character.
- On a dedicated base or a low pedestal table, alone, like a gallery sculpture to contemplate.
- In front of a wall composition mixing tribal masks, old textiles or artisanal basketry, for a refined ethnic chic atmosphere ...
