The Papuan necklace must reflect the prestige, stature and authority of the person wearing it. Many hours of work are therefore devoted to making it as impressive as possible! The materials used are simply those available in the vicinity of Papuan tribes: rooster feathers, sea shells, plant weavings (raffia, sea rush or water hyacinth), and sometimes wooden or terracotta beads.
