A Yogi carved from a single piece of solid wood

This astonishing sculpture has been entirely hand-carved from a single piece of suar wood, a noble Asian wood easily recognized by its contrasting grain alternating blond and beige hues.

Weighing close to 1kg, it is the fruit of increasingly rare craftsmanship. We import it from Bali, Indonesia, where it is carved by a renowned craftsman with whom we've been collaborating since 2003 in a spirit of mutual respect and fair trade.

Traditional beliefs around the Liberator Yogi

The Liberator Yogi is depicted in a curled-up, fetal-like posture, with knees bent to the chest and head held in the hands. Depending on the culture and region, he is sometimes known by other names, such as the Weeping Yogi, the Liberator Buddha or the Weeping Buddha.

This figure symbolizes detachment from the material world and personal commitment to the spiritual quest. He also represents the idea of returning to a primordial, pure state, like that of a fetus, before the birth and conditioning of human life take their toll.

In the yogic tradition, the Liberator Yogi posture is used to attain liberation through meditation, in the image of the Buddha's enlightenment. According to Tibetan beliefs, the Yogi Liberator has the power to free us from sadness and worries. All we have to do is touch his head and convey our thoughts to him, and he will free us from all that hinders us.

In India, the gift of a Yogi Liberator is said to bring healing to the recipient. When you're feeling anxious, handling your Yogi Liberator like a stress ball can help you regain your calm and serenity.

Find a place in your home for this sculpture, and you'll be inviting in not only a unique and authentic handcrafted creation, but also a powerful symbol of spirituality and inner peace.

Each piece, with the color variations typical of suar wood, offers a glimpse of the talent of the craftsman who carves these statues with the same passion.

This "Yogi Liberator" sculpture will inspire you every day with its spiritual message and timeless beauty.

The Liberating Yogi

Yoga has its origins in India. In yogic culture, Shiva is considered the inventor of yoga, and even the God of yoga.

He is one of the most venerated gods of Hinduism, and is depicted as a master yogi in the art of meditation and inner transformation, possessing universal, supreme and absolute knowledge.

This statue of the Liberator Yogi is inspired by the yogic tradition handed down by Shiva. It is therefore a symbol of divine connection, embodying the values of detachment, serenity and self-seeking cherished by yoga practitioners and followers of Hindu philosophy.
